Driver error

This article on a pedal design to control the accelation and braking in a car with only one pedal and one foot made me think of Don Norman's The Design of Everyday Things, in that I was forced to look at something we use every day and question whether or not something I'm used to is really the best. The inventor more or less sums up the entire book when he says this:

The automakers call it driver error. But what if their design’s all wrong?

Am I doing it wrong?

Comments? I don’t do open comments. Life is too short.
